If you’ve started researching Hajj for 2027, you’ve probably run into the word “Nusuk” more than once. Nusuk Hajj registration is not optional reading, it’s the required first step. Since 2023, Nusuk is the only official way for pilgrims from the USA, Canada, and around 126 other countries to register for Hajj. Travel agencies can no longer just sell you a Hajj package the old way. Everything runs through this one government platform first.

Here’s what Nusuk actually is, and how Nusuk Hajj registration works for pilgrims traveling from the USA and Canada.

What Is Nusuk, Exactly?

Nusuk Hajj is the official platform run by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. It handles registration, document verification, package selection, and payment for pilgrims coming from outside Saudi Arabia. For US citizens and residents, the site is hajj.nusuk.sa. Canadian pilgrims go through a separate portal, hajj.nusuk.ca.

One mix-up trips a lot of people up: the Nusuk app and the Nusuk Hajj website are not the same thing. The app is mainly used for Umrah and Rawdah visit bookings. Hajj registration only happens through the website. If you’re filling out anything Hajj-related on the app, you’re in the wrong place.

Nusuk Hajj Registration: The Process, Step by Step

The exact screens change from year to year, but Nusuk Hajj registration generally follows the same stages:

  1. Create your account. You’ll register with a valid email address and mobile number, and confirm both with a verification code.
  2. Upload your documents. You’ll need a passport valid for at least six months past your travel dates, a recent passport-style photo on a plain background, and proof of required vaccinations, including meningitis and, depending on the year, COVID-19.
  3. Wait for verification. Nusuk reviews your information against your documents. Once everything matches, your profile status changes to “Verified Pilgrim.” You can’t book a package until you reach this stage.
  4. Add family members, if needed. Once your own profile is verified, you can add family members traveling with you through the “My Family” section. Each person needs their own documentation.
  5. Browse and select a package. Verified pilgrims can view available Hajj packages by accommodation level, from economy to VIP, and by group.
  6. Pay through the platform. Payment happens inside Nusuk itself, not through a third party.

When Does Nusuk Hajj Registration Open?

Nusuk doesn’t run on a fixed calendar date every year. In past cycles, account registration has opened somewhere in the second half of the year, several months ahead of the Hajj season itself, with packages becoming available closer to the date. The safest approach is to create and verify your Nusuk account as early as you can, well before you’re even ready to pick a package. Verification takes time, and popular packages sell out quickly once they go live.

A Note for Canadian Pilgrims

The Canadian process on hajj.nusuk.ca follows the same general stages as the US site, but visa processing timelines can differ depending on whether you’re applying with a Canadian passport or as a permanent resident using a foreign passport. If you fall into the second category, build in extra time for your documents to clear.

Where a Travel Agency Still Helps After Nusuk Hajj Registration

Since Nusuk handles registration and booking directly, you might wonder what’s left for a travel agency to do. Quite a bit, actually. Getting your documents right the first time matters, a rejected photo or an expiring passport can cost you weeks. Beyond that, Nusuk packages don’t always include your flight from a specific US or Canadian city, and figuring out hotel proximity, group logistics, and what to expect once you land is a lot easier with guidance from people who’ve done it before.

Al Hoda Hajj Group helps pilgrims from the USA and Canada get their documents and profile in order, arranges flights and hotel stays around your Hajj dates, and provides guided support throughout the trip itself.
